In custodial youth institutions, on criminal grounds

The number of young people (aged 12-17 years) in a custodial youth institution on criminal grounds. The figures refer to the number admitted to these institutions from 1 January to 31 December of the year concerned.

In some cases these children may be older; they are therefore also included in the total number of new detainees. They account for less than 5 percent of the children annually.

Data available from 2000.
