Participation in higher vocational education (hbo)

Number or percentage of young people (aged 0 to 24 years) in higher vocational education (hbo).

The figures on enrolment are based on the results of a joint project by Statistics Netherlands, the Information Management Group (IB-Groep), the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), the Central Financing Agency for Educational Institutions (Cfi) and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. This project aims to establish coordinated counting methods by using the same source datasets and uniform definitions and calculation methods in all publications on higher education. It is essential in this respect that the organisations mentioned above use the same information from the central registration of enrolment in higher education. Following joint consultations, a number of characteristics have been added to this registration.

The data refer to study years. 2004 is study year 2004/'05.

All figures are rounded to the nearest 10. As a result of rounding total figures may not exactly equal the sum of the separate figures.

As the National Youth Monitor counts only people aged up to and including 24 years, figures published here may deviate from those presented by the Ministry for Education, Culture and Science, as the ministry counts all students in higher education, regardless of age.
