Participation in practical education

Number or percentage of young people (aged 0-24 years) in practical education.

Practical education is intended for children who do not have enough skills to attain a diploma in mainstream education. Practical education does not prepare pupils for an advanced form of education.

The data published on children in practical education are based on annual enumerations by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The reference date is 1 October. The figures for school year 2004/'05 refer to the situation on 1 October 2004.

All figures are rounded to the nearest 10. As a result of rounding total figures may not exactly equal the sum of the separate figures.
