Provisional guardianship

A measure whereby a judge specialised in juvenile law is given authority over an underage child, if this child is not under any authority or no authority is exercised. This emergency measure is taken when immediate action is required to protect or temporarily protect an underage child. The guardianship is exercised by the guardian institution (the youth welfare office). The youth welfare office subsequently appoints a guardian.
