Unaccompanied foreign minor

Unaccompanied foreign minors are children under 18 years of age who arrive in the Netherlands without parents. They are assigned a guardian who is responsible for their care and education, who represents them legally and is responsible for their finances.

The Ministry of Justice has designated the Nidos foundation as the specialised institution for unaccompanied foreign minors. Nidos is the legal representative of the minor, and in this capacity protects his/her rights.
